OVERVIEW | LEWES TO DIEPPE | DIEPPE TO LEWES | INTERREG

Henry Moore Land and Sea engages two communities in a programme of educational activities, focusing on local landscape and on the work of Henry Moore. Through exchanges, visits and workshops, students have the opportunity to learn more about the landscape of the cross-border region while increasing their knowledge and understanding of modern and contemporary sculpture, digital and multimedia in the arts and communication.

Students from Sussex Downs College , Lewes, and the Lycée Émulation Dieppoise have embarked upon the first phase of the educational focus of the project. Lewes students visited Dieppe on 15–17 March 2004 for a programme of classes and activities focusing on the geology, architecture and history of Dieppe and the maritime collections of the Château-Musée de Dieppe. They were also able to work with Frencho students on collaborative sculpture projects, led by the British sculptor Hamish Black.

A visit to Britain by French students on 15-16 April included similar topics on the topography of East Sussex and its coast, the history of Lewes and its architecture, and a study visit to The Henry Moore Foundation.
